This captivating wee mouse is Tom Thumb, he is from the highly acclaimed Beatrix Potter Collection by the talented artist, R John Wright. Tom Thumb first appeared in a 1904 in - The Tale of two Bad Mice - whereby Tom Thumb and Hunca Munca choose to investigate and explore an elaborate Dolls House. During this time, the ever hungry Tom is getting so frustrated, by not being able to split the lavish looking food he finds in order to eat it, that he raises a fireplace shovel above a platter with a ham, in order to smash it. This is how R John Wright has decided to depict his character. It is also the point in the story, where the two mice realise that Dolls House food is not real food. The magnificent Tom Thumb Mouse is just 3 1/4" tall with a jointed head and shoulders. He has been crafted from a fabulous, custom milled, mohair plush with dainty resin paws, gleaming black glass eyes, fine whiskers and a leather tail. Great time and effort has gone into scissor sculpting and shading, in order to create the illusion of realism for his beautiful face and delicate features. Tom holds high in his paws, a miniature brass fireplace shovel, which is aimed directly above, a china platter with a detailed hand painted ham, which is a work of art in itself. It is as though that moment in the book has been bought to life. This masterpiece of a soft sculpture, is just one of 500 pieces Worldwide, and is presented inside a deluxe, satin lined presentation box, with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.
