In 1947, in Malborough, Wiltshire, England, a company began making wooden toys, held together simply by string. A year later, with both a product and name change, Pelham Puppets were born, named after its founder Bob Pelham and his product, Puppets.

The company ran from 1947 through to 1993, when it ceased trading. By this time, Bob had long passed away (1980) and his wife Ann, kept things going until 1986. Popular not just for making marionettes, but hand puppets, rod puppets and ventriloquists puppets too. All hand made from wood and now very collectable.

The Dutch Girl and Boy are 12" / 30cm in size and were actually made to be a pair. They are both crafted from wood, with composite hands and hand painted faces, with manufacture in the 1960's.

Both are dressed in traditional attire. Braids with a scarf/bonnet, shirt, bodice and skirt with clogs for the girl and a cap, shirt, waistcoat, trousers and clogs for the boy, whilst also featuring a bright, contrast patch upon their gingham clothing.

Both come in their individual Pelham Puppets boxes.
