When Artist John Blackburn was asked if he could make a traditional teddy bear for a friends grandmother, he didn't disappoint and as they say . the rest is history, with John and his Mum working from home, until they became established.
In 2016 John was deservedly awarded an MBE, for services to manufacturing and export and although no longer involved, in the day to day running of Canterbury Bears, his daughter Kerstin and wife Maude are still bringing the magic, into our hearts and our homes.
Crafted and designed in their workshops in a small village close to the Cathedral City of Canterbury, they continue to pride themselves, on still creating their hand crafted and designed teddy bears in England.
